Black Truffles Black Truffles If you want to experience a taste of gourmet food you should visit the centre for black truffles, the small town of Lalbenque in the Lot region of France. From the autumn through to usually about March there are regular markets specialising in the sale of truffles. The black truffles, for some reason, are particularly found in this area. They are not things of beauty to look at - in fact if you were not in the know you would not think them to be edible, but they attract really high prices from the people who know and love them. At the beginning of the season the market usually has stalls offering truffle omelettes with fine slivers of truffles to tempt the tastebuds. An experience to savour.
