Balingup, Western Australia
Holidaying in Western Australia I've come upon a delightful little town - Balingup, just over 250 kilometers south of Perth. This picturesque little place is set in amongst green hills in great farming country. It is surrounded by orchards and forests of karri trees. The town, on the banks of the Blackwood River is a great place to visit, especially in the spring when the display of wild flowers is a wonderful experience. For visitors there are canoe tours available on the Blackwood River, and paddleboat trips and of course plenty of walks. Balingup has a great atmosphere due in no small part to the way the town buildings have been preserved and restored. To add to the interest there are art and craft galleries of various kinds and of course the always welcome tea shops. It's the kind of little town which, in different circumstances, would be a great temptation to me to settle down in and start a little business myself. |
