A restaurant I love

A restaurant I love is situated in a tiny village in France. The restaurant is 'Les Voyageurs', the village Concots and it is nowhere near any tourist areas. It is run by the owner who does the cooking and his partner - she does most of the serving, and everything runs so smoothly. The restaurant itself is a large room on the first floor with an old fashioned upright piano and lots of china and other ornaments, including a number of large parrots (not live!) Everything is old fashioned but polished and sparkling and it has a very comfortable feel. However, the main attraction is the truly delicious food and the starter of a large tureen of bread soup - for one person - is enough for a family of four. I can't resist it - eat far too much - and then find I haven't left much space for the other courses. Somehow, however, I manage it, as they are all so good I greedily plough my way through. No-one rushes you, and everyone is so pleasant. A really nice surprise, on one visit, was that after paying the bill and leaving, halfway down the road to the car we were pursued by the owner, waving frantically and bearing money, as we had inadvertently overpaid. He could easily have assumed we were leaving an extra generous tip, but no. A great cook and a real gentleman. |
